Rock & Roll (and a little Rain...)

Got our rockin' & rollin' done for this week! We've been slacking in the concert attendance lately but this week brought us to Nissan Pavillion twice. Sunday we saw the legendary Rod Stewart (see post below) and last night we went with good friends to see Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick. When we arrived in the parking lot we could hear Cheap Trick on stage and by the time we picked up our tickets we only got to see them perform a couple of songs.

Kurt and Deb met us at the ticket office and we made it onto the lawn where we quickly found good ground on which to set up camp

It was still daylight when Cheap Trick finished.
After a short break to let the daylight disappear it was Anne & Nancy Wilson (better known as Heart) on stage...I've gotta say Anne Wilson has not lost her ability to belt out the old Heart classics - quite a voice she has! Barracuda, Crazy On You, to name a couple...plus a Who (appropriately Rain On Me) and Zepplin tune to boot! All wonderfully done.

Finally the headliner - Journey can still tear up a stage!

No Steve Perry on vocals - but Arnel Pineda (the Philipine wonder that Journey found on YouTube):
was pretty damn close and brought the old sound of Journey to the show. Had I not known that Perry was no longer frontman I would have thought it was him up front last night. Of course he doesn't look like Steve Perry but he certainly has the voice.

We hardly noticed the light rain that came and went a few times during the evening so all in all it was a great night with good friends and good music! Looking forward to doing it again soon.

Oh...wah...oh...wah...ohwaaa!- sing it, Deb!

Brother from Another Mother

Went to meet Drew (brother-in-law to be in the not too distant future) last night at Nissan Pavillion.
(He was standing on a chair trying to intimidate us - he's barely 5 feet tall)

Drew's currently on tour w/Rod Stewart:

So we had the added bonus of seeing Rod perform - probably some of the best seats we've ever enjoyed! Thank you Drew for the VIP passes (and Nicole! whom we never met but I think she had some to do with securing the seats). Great night all the way around.

Rod kicking some signed soccer balls out into the crowd...nice touch.

Clean stage, great show but most of all it was a pleasure to meet
Drew and let him know he's welcomed to the family!

After the show we said good bye to Drew as he began his nightly
load out. Hope to see you again soon brother!

Cat's in DC for a day

Yes, it's been awhile since I've posted anything - not that there's nothing to post but it's been a bit busy so things are backing up and I'll post more soon but today I kinda thought I oughta - Cat's in town, on tour with the Jonas Bros so Mom and Dad and I went down to DC to say hiya and see how she's holding up. Outward appearances alone she's doing great! I know this tour is kickin' her butt but she's kickin' back! Cat was stationed at the Palomar
- quite a swanky chic boutique hotel - had the car valet parked and went up to her room to see that the swanky WiFi wasn't working!
(um...hello? Fix My WiFi!)
(still think it was the Mac but she says nope)
- then we hit the streets in search of lunch:
...didn't take long to find Zorba's

which was a very pleasant Greek restaurant - we had our fill and headed back out on the street - found a good lil bookstore - Kramer Books (but no Comic Book Tattoo on display). Mom found a good book!

Then it was a quick stroll through Beadazzeled - a fully stocked store of...beads. After perusing just about every bead imaginable we walked by Dupont Circle

and headed back to the Palomar
just in time for Cat to catch a lil snooze - I think Dad did a lil snoozing too!

Mom and I watched the Olympic news and then we went down to the hotel lobby/bar/restaurant which was also a pretty nicely laid out to-do.

We met up with Cat's bossman Mike and the wonderfully talented tour massuese and wardrober, Stephanie!
Nice afternoon it was...You make us all pround!
p.s. not every hotel she stays in has the grandest view...
